News and new perspectives

Welcome to Ellen’s website! Oh, that’s me.

The process of making a website (OK, I didn’t actually build it) is like weaving together the strands of my life. I’ve been confronted with questions like: What is my message? What do I stand for? What do I want people to know about me, about what I do and why?

While pondering these and other questions I noted that all my adult life, I have been fascinated with ‘what makes people tick’, including me. The sense of wonder and discovery about our deeper nature, and the unique emotional functioning of human beings and the bonds that we form with each other, brought me to the field of counselling. My lifelong passion for friendship and relationships, and the need to reconcile inevitable conflict, took me into the field of mediation. My experience as a child of divorced parents taught me to be a peacemaker, and to see things from more than one perspective. My work as a Family Mediator is motivated by my desire to see parents make decisions that support their children through the changes brought about by family separation and relationship breakdown. My interest in couple counselling is enhanced by my own deepening connection in a committed relationship. My broader connection to community and the relationships we form together while working collectively for social justice took me into the field of group facilitation, and organisational development. My natural tendency to set goals, and to see my life as a journey along a ‘path’ turned me into a coach a long time ago.

So these are some of the strands of my life that have brought me to this point of creating a  website. I am grateful to WebSmart who actually did the work to build it and asked the questions.  And I am appreciative of my partner, friends, and colleagues who have supported me over what seems a long process of writing, offering their (often conflicting) opinions on design and editorial help.

I am excited to be able to communicate this range of services. Thank you for having a look!  Please do contact me anytime with any queries or comments.
